The thoughtful angel

This thoughtful angel sitting at the entrance of the newly constructed amenities center in the UoH campus, is perhaps deeply involved in some kind of serious thought. She attracted my attention one fine morning when I was just passing by the center for a morning walk. Unable to stop myself, I went to her, without disturbing her composure, took a snap stealthily for my album and came back to my hostel.

Small is beautiful

One of my teachers in my bachelors told me this in an English class. I was young then, bereft of any philosophical knowledge, how could I understand this heavily-loaded statement? But, I kept it safe in my memory for long, and kept on thinking deeply about it from time to time. One day, finally I came to realize what he actually meant by saying so. It doesn't mean that he didn't explain it in the class. He did. He did it quite well citing a variety of examples such as that of a small ant, a small flower bud, and a small spring etc.

Today in my thirties, when I revisit my memory lane, I can feel how significant the statement was, how philosophical and how thought-provoking it was. He wanted us to realize the importance of 'smallness'. A small but beautiful and full of fragrance flower of jasmine attracts everyone. A small baby is the center of attraction for all. The small creature ants are well known for their hard work and focused nature. A small spring has the capacity to quench the thirst of a thirsty pedestrian. A small rose is the symbol of love and affection. A small squirrel delights us  amidst all tension and stress when we look at its activities. There are a plenty of such descriptions.

Being small is nothing wrong. One can be small but at the same time if it can help contribute to the society or world in a grand way, how does its smallness or size matter? Size or shape never matters if other qualities are encouraged and taken to a different height.

Destiny is real

In this unreal world, if there happens to be anything REAL, that is only Destiny. Everyone has to bow down to it. No one can either escape it or win over it. Hence, Destiny is the most powerful and of paramount importance.

Many do not believe in  the power and influence of Destiny. They think that whatever they are doing or engaged in, it all belongs to them and they have a complete control over what they are doing and can do. In fact, such people are all influenced by illusions- illusions of the materialistic world which have so deep and powerful influence over them that they are unable to think independently.

Illusions are quite common and natural in this materialistic world. We all are controlled by illusions. However, there is nothing bad or wrong in it. Most of us who are influenced and dominated by this 'illusion' or 'maya' are unable to activate our 'inner self' (which is a source of all energy) because this maya has enveloped our intelligence as a thick layer from outside. It's quite difficult to get detached from this maya or illusion.

However, people in their old days, diseased, weakened, start realizing the influence and power of Destiny but by then it is too late to make a comeback. They come to realize when they have hardly any time left. That is how it is. We have to understand that that is our limitation. That is our helplessness. That is our weakness. That is our powerlessness.

                        Two Campuses.........an overview!!

I bet on this fact that there is a heaven-hell difference between University of Hyderabad and EFLU. When i say so, i look at each of them not only academically or culturally but also other issues included.  It is EFLU where all "(In)actions" start first and later on they are transferred to UoH. I would like to cite a latest issue. Recently, on 31 October, a masters girl, in inebriated condition, was raped by two of her friends. For the kind attention of people, i must tell that the girl was a regular visitor to the Men's hostel and it never happened with her. There are a few questions which puzzle me. This incident is being  colorized now by calling it "Gender violence" . How come it be a gender violence??? It would be a gender violence when she had been raped in other place such as her hostel or any other place in the campus. She came to the Men's hostel, she partied with those guys, she accompanied them in the drinking, and finally slept in their room. She could have averted the incident very well by not accepting their invitation or refusing to drink. I hold both the parties equally responsible and thus she does not earn our sympathy. Had she followed her own intuition and social ethics. and did not resort to a stranded life, she would definitely earn our sympathy. Lets wait and watch, the way things are taking place in HCU, the incident may be reverberated in here. I wish, it won't!!!!!
